Eeppi Ursin has performed in bands ever since her early child-hood. A career in music was soon the only satisfying choice. She studied oboe and played the piano to accompany her own singing. Jazz was, however, closer to her heart. After high school graduation, Eeppi studied in Orivesi and Joensuu, and returned to Helsinki to pursue her professional studies. Eeppi has received several honors and recognitions, among them the first prize in in the prestigious Lady Summertime Jazz contest. Eeppi's ambitious compositions and heartfelt lyrics were featured on her much celebrated 2005 release, Violet. In addition to her native Finland, Eeppi has performed in Sweden, Norway, Kenya, Marocco, Switzerland and The United States. Eeppi is also featured on several albums as a guest vocalist: Soi-Ensemble; Mika Pohjola's Moomin productions and Christmas Carols, and the music by Toivo kärki, on which she sings in the tango and jenkka tradition.
